How to Edit the Home Page in Elements

This article dives into the dynamic world of your CRM and focuses on a crucial aspect: editing the Home Page. Watch the short video below to walk through the process of editing the Home Page, using the Lightning App Builder.

The Home Page is essential as a landing page for all users and we encourage system administrators to make edits that benefit the entire firm. The Home Page includes interactive charts and list views showing data pertinent to your users. The Home Page is a firm-wide setting, ensuring a consistent layout for everyone, although the data within each component may vary according to the user viewing it. For example, Today’s Tasks. You may not have any Tasks due today while I have one however, we see the same component in the same place on the Home Page.

We recommend internal discussions to determine your users' preferences for the Home Page and suggest building separate user-specific dashboards as needed. Access to specific items/components, such as reports or list views, must be ensured for everyone when added to the Home Page.

To edit the Home Page, system administrators need to click on the gear icon and select Edit Page which opens the Lightning App Builder. The Lightning App Builder layout includes a site map of available components on the left, a preview of the Home Page in the middle for adding, removing, and rearranging components, and underlying settings and filters on the right.

Several beneficial components that we recommend using include the Chatter Feed, List Views, Recent Items, Report Chart, Rich Text, Today's Tasks, and Today's Events.

To add or move components, simply drag and drop the components within the Lightning App Builder. Be sure to save any changes but keep in mind that once saved, there is no way to revert to the original home page.
